September is the start of many things.

Parents are looking forward to children going back to school and college, and the ‘back to school’ theme is all over people’s marketing and new offers (which is why you won’t see it on mine)!
This is my last ‘back to college’ year as Jacob (my youngest of 4) starts year 13 this week, so this September definitely has a different vibe!
September also sees the beginning of autumn.
Autumn is my favourite season. I love how the leaves on the trees change, those stunning red, orange and gold tones and the change of the landscape as we see everything the green leaves were hiding. Autumn always makes me think of lit fires, cosy evenings, with warm throws and hot chocolate as we prepare for winter. Time to relax and time to think. And time to let go of the things you know longer need!
As business owners September is the perfect time to look at the goals you set yourself at the beginning of the year. If you’re on track then that’s wonderful, keep focused and keep going, there are still 4 months to go!
If you’re not where you want to be this is an important month – if you act now and make the changes that are needed, you can still hit those goals. But if you don’t, then next year’s goals could end up being the same as this years, which may be the same as in 2023…
I know a few businesses that are stuck in this cycle, and the thing that keeps them stuck is their aversion to change!
These business owners are either scared of change or simply don’t know how or what to change; whatever the reason, not seeking the help they need is keeping them stuck.
It may feel hard to reach out and ask for help, maybe they feel they should know what to do, maybe they don’t know who to turn too that they can trust – but no matter how hard it is get help, it’s going to be much harder to stay stuck!
And as Robin S Sharma says,
“All change is hard at first, messy in the middle and gorgeous at the end.”
Autumn shows us that it’s okay to let go of the things we no longer need…Who do you know who needs to hear this?
Food for thought!
